Fuerty school kids on Parade

Students from the school added great colour to the Castlerea summer parade in July last.

Bag packing

Well done to all the parents who gave of their time to pack bags in Dunnes during St. Patrick’s Weekend. This was a very successful fundraiser and raised just under €1500.

Confirmation & Graduation

Best of luck and congratulations to Amy White, Lisa Cuddy and Karen Naughton who graduate from Mr. Fallon’s room this summer. The girls were confirmed by Bishop Jones in Athleague Church.

Computer whiz kids

The pupils of 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class took part in a school run computer course delivered by Catriona Reddington. The course was a great success, with the pupils now armed with skills to produce their own documents and projects on computer.

Skipathon

The pupils of 5th and 6th class held a skipathon in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation. They raised €800 by skipping for 2 hours. In conjunction with the skipathon, the children learned new skipping games in a skipping workshop organised by the Parents’ Association.

Christmas Concert

A great night’s entertainment was provided by the school pupils at the Christmas concert. Well done to Mrs. Spillane and the children of Junior and senior infants for their nativity story and songs. The pupils of 2nd and 3rd class endeared the audience with their act under the guidance of Ms. Lydon and Sr. Christina. Ms. Ryan’s 3rd and 4th class gave a lovely presentation of Snow White and the seven dwarfs with the help of Ms. Murphy. Finally the audience were treated to song and dance from 5th and 6th class from Mr. Fallon’s room.

Parents Bowling Night Out

There was some great style and skill shown when the Parents’ Association had a night out in Roscommon Bowling Alley. All parents who attended had great fun and many showed great promise as bowlers. This type of parents’ night out is seen as an integral part in the role of the Parents’ Association to provide opportunities where parents can get together in a social setting.

New Building

Great work has taken place since the start of the new extension. The workers have been blessed with fine weather and teachers and students are all looking forward to the opening of the bright new space early in the new school year.

Christmas shoe box

Students from all classes in the school participated in the Christmas shoe box appeal. This year the pupils sent shoe boxes filled with goodies to children in Belarus.
