Schools Tidy Towns
Students from Fuerty National School all played their part during the year in helping Castlecoote tidy towns to make the village beautiful. The children grew sun flowers to be placed in the children’s garden in the church car park.
Pyjama day
All the children took part in pyjama day as part of a fund raiser for Adam Reddington.
Roscommon Drama Festival Essay Competition
Roscommon drama festival ran an essay competition for 5th & 6th classes in schools in Co. Roscommon. This was based on the titles of the plays in the festival for 2015. Erin Cleary was the winner from Fuerty N.S

Eason’s Spelling Bee
As part of the spelling bee competition 5th & 6th class students took part in spelling tests. The best result came from Eva Neilan who went on to represent Fuerty N.S. Congratulations to Eva who reached the semi-finals in the Roscommon heats of the competition
Halloween Fun
The pupils and teachers enjoyed a fun Halloween dress up day at the end the term. Well done to all the teachers and pupils for a great effort.

· 3rd – 6th safer cycle initiative in conjunction with Roscommon county council and the RSA
· All classes participated in an 8 weeks of gymnastics
· Infants – 2nd hand writing competition
· 5th & 6th Garda Siochana road safety poster competition
· 3rd – 6th county councils recycling colouring competition
· 5th & 6th girls attended the Convents musical ‘Oliver’
· David Silke gave a talk to the students about bees
· 3rd -6th classes were given a talk on local history by Albert Siggins
Parent Association Talks
Information evenings on the parents association and the mental health and well-being of children was organised for any parents wishing to attend.
Christmas Fair
A fund raising evening was held in the community centre. The children were busy in the days leading up to the event making treats and decorations to be sold on the evening. The children all sang Christmas carols after mass

First
Communion
The children of 2nd class
made their first communion on the last Sunday of May 2015. Congratulation to Michael
Corcoran, John Duke, Keelan Duke, Noah Farrell, Luke Hanley, Aimee Lavin, Ella
Morrison, Emily Mulhern, Oisin Mullen, Bryan Murray, Evan Murray and Tara
O’Brien.
A 5km/10km fancy dress walk/run was held on
the 15th of March. The
children designed posters to be used to promote the event. A fun afternoon was
had by all
The 5th/6th class boys topped
their group in the hurling. After just
losing out in the A semi-final by 2 points, the lads went on to play in the B
final. They were successful in this
beating Creggs on the day. Joint
captains Ethan and Ciaran accepted the cup
The footballers topped the group stage of the
competition, but lost out narrowly to a team from Whitehall in the
semi-finals. It was the first time to
get this far in many years.
The 4th- 6th class girls
competed in Co Roscommon Cumann no mBunscol football competition. They won all the games to help them reach the
semi-finals, only to be beaten by a very strong team from Corrigeenroe.
Unfortunately the girls were knocked out in the
first round of the camogie.
Students also took part in the Mark Fitzmaurice
memorial soccer and football tournament.
They did well in this only losing out by 3 points to the winners.
Well done to Thomas Higgins in reaching the last 8
in the Connaught U14 boys’ golf team.
Wishing Thomas the best of luck for the rest of the competition.
