At the 2009 Roscommon Environmental Schools Competition Fuerty NS were awarded the prize for "Best Hanging Baskets/Window Boxes/Container Plants". The award was presented by Cllr. Tony Ward to principal Ms. Murphy at a function in the Roscommon Arts Centre in December. This award for the school would not have been possible but for the work of Castlecoote tidy towns in conjunction with the school. Many thanks to Ger O'Loughlin for the presentation picture.
